Adelaide is very quiet, and spends the vast majority of their time simply observing and watching others. They take everything very seriously, and tend to not understand when someone is making a joke or trying to be funny. They're haunted by a constant sense of paranoia and anxiety, causing them to be easily startled and constantly on alert. They like to keep their hands busy, and tend to do things like sew and color in their free time to keep themselves distracted.Biography
Adelaide was the pet project of a small cult in the countryside who sought to create their own eldritch being. They were made a shapeshifting being whose purpose was to be worshipped, and also to be utilized in various spiritual projects. They spent much of their time locked in a cellar, where they saw little light and often shed black ink.Eventually, Adelaide grew to a point where they couldn't reliably be contained anymore, and ended up escaping in a frenzy while killing more than one member. Upon escape, they discovered that they toed a strange line between eldritch and human - they could traverse realms and shapeshift, even drive humans insane, but also connected to humans in a strange emotional way. They felt loneliness and pain and fear just like they did, something that didn't feel right to Adelaide.
They began to wander the world, taking up human form in various areas simply to people watch and observe. They took mental notes on human behavior - they way they treated each other, the way they reacted to other people, the way they talked and expressed emotion. All the while they continue to be haunted by strange, human-like emotions of pain, of loneliness, and of confusion.
